Many questions and uncertainties may arise, especially if you don’t get pregnant right away. You are welcome at Geboortecentrum Amsterdam even before you conceive.

Preconception consultation
In a preconception consultation with one of our midwives, we schedule about 30-45 minutes to assess your personal situation and provide expert advice tailored to you and your partner. In addition, we can perform various tests and, in collaboration with our specialists, offer various treatments to increase the chances of pregnancy.
The full childbirth consultation is reimbursed by your insurance company.
Your personal situation is unique
In our preconception consultation we provide information about your health and that of your partner, lifestyle and complementary examinations for a healthy start to the pregnancy. In addition, we discuss your menstrual cycle and determine when you are most fertile. Our assistant sends along a questionnaire when confirming the appointment, so that we receive all the relevant information to help you get further.
The first 100 days
Your lifestyle and that of your partner can potentially affect getting pregnant and pregnancy. The first 100 days before conception are important for ovum maturation. Also, the male sperm cycle takes three months. We chart your lifestyle and can take a blood sample to determine, for example, your iron levels, thyroid levels and important vitamins. In addition, our vitality coach can also do additional tests and make adjustments in your diet to balance your hormones.
Ultrasound of your uterus
If you are planning to conceive, it is helpful to know that everything looks normal. We can offer an ultrasound of your uterus and ovaries at our own ultrasound center Echo Amsterdam. We can exam the endometrium and ovaries (including eggs). We also scan for possible fibroids or cysts. If any irregularities are detected we will refer you to your family doctor or gynecologist for additional medical advice.
The ultrasound is not covered by your insurance. The cost for this gynaecological ultrasound is €70.
Acupuncture
With close to twenty years of experience in traditional Chinese medicine, Manon Ritter is highly specialized in pregnancy and pregnancy support. Treatment may include acupuncture, use of herbs, cupping, moxa therapy and where appropriate, elements from other disciplines. Treatment makes sense when supporting childbearing, endometriosis, failure to ovulate, repeated miscarriages or reduced sperm quality. In addition, acupuncture improves blood flow to the reproductive organs and helps relieve stress.

Vitality Coach
Renate van Oort is our Orthomolecular Advisor/Vitality Coach and specializes in guiding women to conceive and through pregnancy as healthy & vital as possible. When your hormones are balanced you increase your chances of a successful conception, a healthier baby and a more relaxed pregnancy.
